RAYONG, Thailand -- The U.S. and Thailand officially opened the Cobra Gold military exercises Tuesday in the largest post-pandemic edition of the drill, involving 30 nations.
The ceremony was held at U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield in eastern Thailand. Seven countries, including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea, will join the main exercises. Personnel from China, India and Australia will participate only in drills concerning command structures for humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
